I am a piano teacher and an Alexander technique teacher based in Barnwell, near Oundle and Peterborough.

I can teach online or in my house in Barnwell, near Oundle

I have over 20 years’ piano teaching experience. I have been a STAT certified Alexander Technique teacher since 2007 and I am also a certified TRE Level 2 provider (Trauma and tension releasing exercises).

How I teach piano

Learning piano should be fun. I want to make sure that everyone who studies with me loves the whole process. Lots of music teachers are very focused on results and, in some cases, this can take out all the fun. 


I believe that it is possible to achieve both – the fun and the results.

Teaching our 3 children from beginners since 2019, Karin has applied varied techniques appropriate to each child & their different stages of learning. Our eldest is motivated by pop music, our daughter by accomplishing grade exams, and our youngest starts most lessons with Karin led anxiety calming techniques. In early stages, we spent extra time building a firm sight reading foundation with varied musical pieces to prevent memorization. Once established, Karin introduced scales & required each technical detail be followed using a mix of songs my children selected. When we started grade exams, my children quickly moved through with merits & distinctions. 

In addition, Karin’s encouragement towards musical competitions & her pupil recitals has given my children motivation, pride & accomplishment in performing their talents, even at very early stages. Fees and T&Cs

In order to organise my life better I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you need to change your lesson time or cancel a lesson, then please advise me at least 24 hours in advance, otherwise the full fees apply. If something unexpected comes up (like sudden illness, etc) then we rearrange the lesson.
